Depositing a billion pounds into your team’s psychological bank account

The parable of the pub lunch…

A group of former Uni friends, all aged 40 something, discussed where they should meet for their reunion lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Sheffield because it’s always packed and there’s a great vibe.

Ten years later, at 50 something, the friends once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Sheffield because the food and service was good and the beer selection was excellent.

Ten years later, at age 60 something, the friends again discussed where they should meet for their 10 year anniversary lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Sheffield because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace and quiet, and it was good value for money.

Ten years later, at age 70 something, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Sheffield because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a special pensioners menu.

Ten years later, at age 80, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Sheffield because they had never been there before.

Hey, you can make of it what you will. For me, it’s that happiness changes over time. What made you happy at 40 won’t necessarily make you happy at 80.

KNOWING what makes you happy and DOING what makes you happy are two separate things. Our webinars and workshops help with the knowing and doing.

As we emerge into the bright lights of the ‘new normal’ it’s well worth engaging with our Team Reboot workshop. It’s like putting a billion pounds into your team’s psychological bank account.
