Anabas – a brilliantly different company

We are delighted that two years ago we formed a wonderful partnership with a great company – Anabas.

A national facilities management company, (FM) Anabas specialises in the self-delivery of FM services to corporate workplace occupiers. They have around 600 brilliant team members delivering first-class FM services across the UK.

Anabas oozes positivity and has an embedded culture of fun, wellbeing and personal growth. It is clear that Anabas want its people to thrive and they create an environment that supports this.

From the start when employees join the company, they see the Anabas people are different. Their brilliant journey into the company starts with an introduction to the Art of Being Brilliant with a video from Andy Cope, The Doctor of Happiness and from their Managing Director, Alistair Craig. Employees are encouraged to read the Art of Being Brilliant and team members are regularly seen wearing happy t-shirts. And it is so much more than that, with so many aspects supporting a positive mindset including motivational workshops, regular top-up sessions of positivity and creating an environment for fun.

The incredibly inspiring, Alistair, tells us more about what makes the company special “We are a can-do organisation and love the whole ethos of the Art of Brilliance and have integrated it into the way we work. Many of the messages are simple including enjoy life, enjoy work, do your best, be kind and show gratitude and this is exactly how we want everyone who works for us to feel and be.”

We have now adopted a slogan ‘Brilliantly Different’ as this captures who we are. We also introduced additional reward and recognition around being brilliantly different with ‘be brilliant’ nominations. Since 2020, we’ve received over 300 nominations of Anabas employees being brilliant in their roles. This has further improved our internal recognition of people who go above and beyond.

As with all organisations, people have real-life problems, like severe illness and bereavement. Whilst Anabas can’t solve these, they help provide support to employees with resilience, so it is easier for them to bounce back.

A great example of how the company’s ethos has influenced someone personally is when Ian Boast, Contract Manager read the account in The Art of Being Brilliant of a dad who wasn’t present emotionally for his son. After reading this Ian had a ‘Wow’ moment and changed how he interacted with his family from that time. Made sure that family time was fun and that he was emotionally present!

Anabas clients notice the different attitudes of the team and regularly give excellent feedback and also ask for happy t-shirts and the Art of Brilliance books to read themselves!

And finally, what do the team feel about working for Anabas, here is a glowing endorsement from previously mentioned Ian about the impact on his client teams “So what has #BrilliantlyDifferent done for the team? It has created an energised, hardworking, fun, bold and bloody brilliant team. I never wake up and think oh God I’ve got to go to work, I love it…

I made the plunge to be #BrilliantlyDifferent at home and now after dinner every night we all dance together shuffling around laughing and shouting at google to play whatever we want next… we finish our hectic days with us all dancing to Shiny from Moana every day and it’s amazing!”

What a fantastically amazing group of people!
