Is it time for a social media detox?

Each day, 34 million videos are uploaded to TikTok and 95 million photos or videos shared on Instagram…

Every minute, over 4 million videos are watched by users on YouTube, over 527,000 snaps sent over snapchat, and over 450,000 opinions and rants posted on X (formerly Twitter). Yes, read the first part of that sentence again… every minute!

I’ve done the sums for you…

… that’s 133,977,000 thoughts, headlines, cat videos, gags, vents and photos vying for your attention every single day.

It’s no wonder we’re stressed, anxious and unable to concentrate!

It’s sobering to learn that, on average, we spend 152 minutes on social media every day. Social media’s aim is to snare your attention. You will always have time for one more video, one more scroll, or one more message.

But what about those other things? That new hobby, your New Year’s resolution, tidying up, quality time with your friends and family, that movie you keep meaning to watch, the book you keep saying you will read? That thing you keep meaning to do but never manage to find the time for.

The online world doesn’t play by our rules. There is no limit, no set amount of time in a day, just endless content. 152 minutes to the world of social media is nothing, a fragment of what there is to see. But to you, it’s a sizeable chunk of your day.

The really BIG question that almost nobody is asking (but they really should be) is: Is this how you want to spend your life?

What if you culled your social media by 30%, or 50%… or 90%? What could you achieve in that free time?

Good news! The Art Of Brilliance team is revamping their training menu for 2024 and Social Media Detox is part of the new offering. It’s fresh, exciting and much needed!
